Ubisoft has been a supporter of Google Stadia from the beginning. With them porting over current titles as well as release new titles on the platform in line with other console releases. We have also seen Ubisoft taking advantage of some of the features Stadia has to offer, such as stream connect. But it is clearly paying off.
As during During Ubisoft’s financial conference call for investors and analysts, chief executive officer Yves Guillemot and chief financial officer Frédérick Duguet, talked about how there could potentially be some delays for some games. However, they stated that delaying multiple games is “extremely low.” They also mentioned that they don’t know what the next few months will bring, so they are taking more of a cautious stance when saying they might delay some games.
Now the more interesting part being, with Ubisoft backing Google Stadia and a lot of other publishers still not taking the leap yet to publish games on Google Stadia, due to the fact that they don’t think the game will sell well on Stadia. Well for Ubisoft games are “doing well” on Stadia.
Stadia is also helping Ubisoft with internal development, with many companies making their employees work from home. Stadia is allowing Ubisoft employees to review their games from home. Guillemot also went on to say this about Google Stadia:
“Cloud is coming. It’s coming at a normal speed I would say, but it’s getting better and better. We think at the end of the year you will see some evolution on the number of players and also on the brands that will be launched there. It’s a good long-term trend that will change the industry, we think.”
