Recently, Jade Raymond spoke with GamesIndustry.biz about the company’s strategy for the service and first party games for the future. The head of Stadia Games and Entertainment spoke to how Google wants to “change the way games are made.
“It’s very important for first-party games… to be games that wouldn’t be possible on any other platform”
With first-party games in mind, Google officially unveiled its first games studio today in Montréal. The Studio will reportedly be the first of many and will be tasked with making exclusive content that takes advantage of the cloud gaming platform. Jade Raymond stated it will “produce exclusive, original content across a diverse portfolio.” She then went on to mention the Canadian city’s rich gaming heritage that “launched dozens of studios, thousands of careers, and countless incredible games.”
Also, some good news for Stadia founders and gamers looking to check out the Stadia platform… Google have stated that it WILL NOT be years until IPs / exclusives come to stadia.
“It won’t be four years before gamers get to see the new exclusive, exciting content. There will be some coming out every year, and more and more each year”
